Acquint is a defense-spending dataset and API for journalists, Hill staff, and oversight analysts who need the iceberg view — parent rollup, civilian-channel awards, and the sub-award flows that prime-only dashboards miss.
What we build
We ingest five DoD-relevant slices of USAspending — DoD-awarded primes, DoD-awarded grants, IDV parents, sub-awards under DoD primes, and DoD-funded contracts awarded by civilian agencies — and stitch them together with parent-UEI rollup, GAO bid protests, DOJ False Claims Act settlements, DSCA Foreign Military Sales notifications, FEC defense-PAC contributions, and Senate LDA lobbying disclosures. The product is a public website plus a constrained metric API. Every figure ships with the publisher URL it was computed from; every metric reconciles to within ±0.5% of an independently-published topline or the dbt build fails.
Who it's for
National-security and procurement journalists. You need to write “Lockheed received $X across Y subsidiaries in FY24” with a footnote that traces back to FPDS, and you need it before deadline. Hill staff and CRS analysts. You need to print the page, hand it to a senator, and have every number trace. Oversight investigators. You need to see the civilian-channel and sub-award layers that the DoD-only FPDS archive hides.
Citation as contract
This is the principle the product is built around. Incumbent dashboards cite an internal BI cube; we cite the publisher. Incumbent dashboards footnote caveats in a PDF; we ship them on every API response. Incumbent dashboards reconcile in a slide deck once a quarter; we reconcile on every dbt build, with the tolerance test name and ±0.5% threshold on the response itself.
